Accessibility statement

Our goal

We want everyone to be able to use future-code.dev comfortably, including people who use a screen reader, only a keyboard or screen magnification. We design and test the site against WCAG 2.1 at level AA.

Conformance status

The site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. We meet most requirements and back that up with tests. A few areas still need a manual review or depend on third-party services. They are listed below.

How we test the site

  • An automated axe-core test of every page, in light and dark themes, at desktop and phone widths
  • A contrast measurement of text that sits on photos, gradients and patterns
  • Zoom up to 400%, a 320-pixel width and increased letter, word and line spacing
  • Keyboard-only use: tab order, visible focus, closing menus with Esc
  • Forms: field labels, error and sending messages in a status region that screen readers announce, and a separate confirmation page after you submit
  • Text alternatives for images
  • Animations that stop after a few seconds and do not play at all if your device is set to reduce motion

Known limitations

  • We have checked headings in older articles, migrated from the previous site, with automated tools. A manual review is under way.
  • A full manual screen reader test with VoiceOver is in progress.
  • The meeting calendar (Calendly) and the form's bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile) are third-party services, so their accessibility depends on their providers. If either gets in your way, email or call us and we will book the call without them.
  • Forms cannot be sent with JavaScript turned off. Email or call us instead; the details are below.

Technical information

The site uses HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and a small amount of JavaScript. Menus work without JavaScript in current browsers. Sending a form needs JavaScript (Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection). Automated tests run in the Chromium browser.
